Memories of Yip Keng Cheong, a good old friend…
Thursday, June 24th, 2010This week,
I just bidded a final farewell to Yip Keng Cheong, a good old friend.
He left us on Saturday, 19th June 2010, the day after I returned from my trip to USA. So, I didn’t even have a chance to visit him in ICU.
Yes, I miss Keng Cheong…
He was a good friend of mine…
… and very close with me and Teck Heng (and also Siew Cheong and some others) during our Secondary, Pre-U & early post-school days. We met a lot those days… stayed over at his place quite frequently (and rummaged his kitchen for eggs to make omelette in the middle of night)… and even traveled to Malaysia together several times.
He is always cheerful and bubbly and… very capable and knowledgeable, too. He writes very well, very meticulous and extremely hardworking!
And he is also a talented sportsman, excelling in…
… rugby (as you can see in the picture above) as he represented Raffles Institution (RI) and our state as well as an athlethic sprinter who’s good at 100m, 200m and 400m.
I’m glad that I’ve taken the effort to attend our school’s 35th Anniversary (Hey! Now you know my age…) last year when I met this old friend of mine for the final time, chatting and reminscing the past (see picture on the right).
So,
Do cherish life… live well while we’re here…
What is more to life than health, wealth and relationships?
What’s left are fond memories of a good old friend that will live forever in our everlasting memory!
Keng Cheong fought bravely for his life for two years and now finally, he is called home with the LORD. May he rest in peace.
